  • a) Book: "Scientific Visualization", Brodie, et al. - This is a good overall reference for the field. A few sections are dated, but the general concepts hold. This is highly recommended reading, but the book is expensive ($92). Link is to Amazon with a brief review. No implication is implied that Amazon is the place to buy it. This is available on a 3 day hold at Wendt library. Please read it if you can get it. (1/31/2002 - Link - URL)
  • b) Book: "Visual Computing", Friedhoff, Hanrahan, Peercy - This book covers the linkage between display/visualization methods and consideration of perception. Chapters 6 and 7 specifically deal with scientific visualization and how to design for efficient information transfer. Techniques in art are considered as guides for computational techniques. Link is to Amazon with with some brief reviews. No implication is implied that Amazon is the place to buy it. (1/30/2002 - Link - URL)
  • c) Book: Frontiers of Scientific Visualization, Pickover, et al - This is an excellent text of individual papers describing some unique uses of visualization in subdiscipline areas. There is a chapter on using visualization to reconcile art and science, though the approach appears technical. Link is to Amazon with with some brief reviews. No implication is implied that Amazon is the place to buy it. (1/31/2002 - Link - URL)
